Most bathroom problems are hidden ones: tiles fixed straight onto plasterboard, no tanking behind a shower, an extractor that vents into the loft, or a wet room former set into a floor that was never levelled. A full strip-out lets the pipework, wiring, ventilation and waterproofing be put right before a single tile is laid.
Wet rooms and level-access showers
Level-access showers need a former set into the floor, a fully tanked substrate and falls formed to the drain. On timber floors that means cutting and reinforcing joists; on concrete it means levelling and tanking. Both are entirely achievable upstairs when the structure is checked first.
Underfloor heating and tiling
Electric underfloor heating under tile is a straightforward upgrade in a bathroom and pairs well with a self-levelling compound and large-format tiles. Tile layout is set out from the most visible wall so cuts land where you do not notice them.

How long does a bathroom renovation take?+
A full bathroom refit is typically 3–5 weeks from strip-out to handover, depending on tiling area and whether the floor needs levelling or reinforcing.
Can I have a wet room upstairs?+
Yes, with proper tanking and a structural check on the joists. It is a common upgrade on Sheffield semis and terraces.
Do I supply the bathroom suite or do you?+
Either. You can choose and supply everything, or I can source through trade accounts — whichever gives you the better result for the budget.
Do I need Building Regulations for a new bathroom?+
Electrical work and new or altered drainage are notifiable, and mechanical extraction is required. These are handled and certified as part of the job.
Can you fit underfloor heating in a bathroom?+
