Re-Roofing in Sheffield
Complete roof replacements for Sheffield homes that have reached the end of patch repairs.
A re-roof means stripping the existing covering back to the rafters, checking and replacing any failed timber, and rebuilding the roof with new membrane, battens, covering and detailing. It is the right answer when the nails have corroded, when slates are slipping in several places each winter, or when a previous repair has simply moved the problem along the slope.
When a re-roof is the right call
Recurring leaks in different places, daylight visible through the boarding, widespread nail sickness, sagging between rafters, or mortar bedding that has broken down along the whole ridge all point to replacement rather than repair. If your roof is not at that stage, I will tell you and quote for the repair instead.
What is included in a re-roof
Scaffold, strip and dispose of the old covering, timber inspection and repair, breathable membrane, treated battens, new slates or tiles, dry ridge and verge systems, new lead flashings, and replacement of any perished fascia, soffit or guttering identified at survey.

FAQ
Re-Roofing — common questions
How long does a full re-roof take?+
A typical Sheffield semi-detached re-roof takes around 4–7 working days on site, plus scaffold erection and removal. Larger or more complex roofs take longer.
Can you re-use the existing slates?+
Sometimes. Natural slate is often salvageable and can be re-laid with new fixings, usually topped up with matched reclaimed slate. Concrete tiles are rarely worth re-using.
Do I need Building Regulations approval to re-roof?+
Replacing more than 25% of a roof covering is notifiable, and an insulation upgrade may be required. The Building Control notice is handled for you.
Will my house be exposed to the weather?+
No. Roofs are stripped and re-covered in sections and sheeted overnight so the property stays protected.
